Youth Employment Program (YEP)

YEP prepares youth with critical skills needed for life beyond high school. Youth ages 14-21 are hired for the summer and fall to clean our city's streets. The program teaches hard work while helping youth develop a sense of pride for their community.

The 2021 YEP Application can be completed and submitted online. Additional documents may be requested during orientation.

Professional Development

Youth participate in weekly professional development sessions. Subjects include: interview skills, resume writing, public speaking, and career exploration.

Youth Financial Empowerment

Sowing Seeds Savings Program

MCDC believes that all young people should develop a good relationship with money at an early age. Sowing Seeds empowers youth that are employed by helping them open a savings account as well as educate young people on a variety of financial subjects. At completion of coursework, Sowing Seeds provides monetary incentives to youth that have accomplished their savings and educational goals.
